There is a lot of work behind the scenes which makes it possible to ride trails, or even have them.
Trail Maintenance
Trails require maintenance. SF Urban Riders has been a long time partner with our local land managers to maintain, build, and reroute trails to make them more sustainable and more fun to ride.
Even more importantly, dozens of people showing up at a trail work day demonstrates that the off road cycling community is here, dedicated, and willing to put in the effort to be good citizens.
Major areas we have worked in include Mt Sutro, in conjunction with the Sutro Stewards, and McLaren Park, in conjunction with SF Rec and Park. We also look forward to working with other land managers here in San Francisco.

Meetings Meetings Meetings
In addition to trail maintenance, we meet with land managers and others. If you’d like to get involved with that, contact us. We also provide comment in public forums, such as meetings and letters–if there’s an issue we know about where you can help, we’ll announce it on our Facebook page and newsletter.
Promotion and Community Relations
We need to build relationships with the neighbors of the places we ride, with bicyclists, bike shops, bike teams, and other park users with whom we interact. Would you like to help with this? Let us know!
