Tom Berlin

Tom Borden is a mechanical engineer who enjoys designing and building things; machines, business systems, bike parts, dirt jumps. He is the founder and president of Intrinsic Devices, a development and manufacturing company located in San Francisco. The company produces fasteners and actuators made from nickel titanium shape memory alloys.

Tom loves bikes and anything else that rolls or slides. While cycling may occasionally take a back seat to skiing, skateboarding or hockey, cycling is his prime obsession.

Tom has raised 3 children in San Francisco and recognizes the need for space where our children can pursue physical activities away from the cars that make city life so dangerous. He would like to see trails throughout our parks to serve this need, offering walking and riding opportunities surrounded by a sense of wilderness.

To forward this end, Tom is working on trail building activities with V-O-Cal, IMBA and Mt. Sutro Stewards and has put his support behind SF Urban Riders.
