You can read more about his story here Funding is provided by the Jack Doub Memorial Endowment. The event will take place each year on the first Saturday in October. This will be San Francisco’s first participation in this fantastic event.
11am – 11:30 am Registration and Bike Inspection
11:30 – Noon Bike Safety and Orientation
12:01 – 2:00 pm Mountain Bike Rides
During the Bike Safety and Orientation phase each rider will be evaluated for skill level, this will enable SFUR to create sub groups of similar skill and experience. The goals is to direct each participant to the most fun and educational ride for their ability and endurance.
The beginner group will stay near the starting area and be contained to a ½ – 1 mile circuit with fun swooshes, natural undulations, and wonderful views. The setting is primarily grassland and has excellent visibility.
The other group will start in the circuit, but head out to explore the park by trail. This will be a 4-6 mile ride tailored to family friendly standards. It will feature fire roads, trails and paved paths with an intention to find some great vista points to observe the surrounding city. It will also feature a stop to watch the Start of the Professional Men’s Cyclocross Race hosted by Pilracito’s Cyclesports in the adjacent Crocker Amazon Park.
