Sweet, Sweet New Trail
Aug 18th, 2009 | By Dan | Category: Lead StoryThanks to everyone who lent a hand in McLaren park the other weekend. It was a beautiful example of what can happen when like minded community gets together to build something beautiful.
The work was hard, the mood was uplifting, the result was a huge amount of new and restored trail in McLaren park.
SF Urban Riders donated over 110 man hours to the weekend, building some beautiful sections of trail, having a great time, and getting right back out there to test out the knobbies in the dirt.
All in all, about 120 participants came out to the event, including the kitchen staff working hard to feed the roaring appetite that a day of trailwork will undoubtedly incur. Over 1000 man hours were dedicated to the trail building efforts over the weekend, thanks to V-O-CAL. Other big thanks go out to Tsing Tao Radio News and Chinese community group. They were the largest donor of community support for the weekend.
The trails are open. A little loose now, but a winter’s rain and some tires, feet, and paws patting them down will only improve things. Get out there and ride.
But enough of words, right? You really should be getting back to your days work now, but we’re sure you have time to look at a few pictures of the magic of trail building, and the sweet nectar of trail riding, right?
(thanks to spartan23 for the generous use of the last couple pictures)
