Labor day weekend – what are you going to do?

Sep 1st, 2009 | By dcrites | Category: Lead Story

Sure, you could go somewhere. You could sit in a metal box, around a bunch of other metal boxes on a large cement strip and bake in the heat. Or, you could come and (work) party with a three year old. That three year old is the Mt. Sutro Stewards trail and habitat restoration program. Many miles of trail, dozens of switchbacks, numerous views, and acres of habitat have been the result of this highly successful program. The trail system on Mount Sutro was originally built in 1889, and bringing them back to life is a beautiful thing to watch happen, and all the more gratifying to take part in. This month, the switchbacks…mmm…switchbacks… leading down the Lower Woodland Canyon trail will be worked on extensively in an effort to complete the trail by September and commemorate this wonderful achievement.

And of course, as per typical, anyone who is willing to commit their morning to some work will be rewarded by a after work fiesta with Pizza and Home Brew beverages!

9am start time,

Woods lot (100 Medical Center Way),

Wear closed toed shoes, long pants recommended.   SF Urban Riders and Mt. Sutro Stewards will provide all the tools and gloves and instruction on some fine trailbuilding that you could desire…
