Calling All Urban Riders!!!
May 25th, 2009 | By dcrites | Category: Lead StoryPlease come down to San Francisco’s City Hall this Thursday, May 28th, from 6 to 7:30 pm.
SF Rec and Park is going to hold a meeting to receive public input regarding a 5million dollar stimulus to existing trail networks in San Francisco’s natural areas.
Wear a helmet in, state your piece. Tell the officials what you’d like to see. This is democracy, after all. Tell them that you’d like to see a network of interconnected, multi use trails in San Francisco, linking citizens to their parks and open spaces. Tell them you’d like to see the ‘no bicycles off road’ rules abolished and instead more kids getting outside, building self confidence by enjoying the healthy recreation of riding bikes in the dirt . Tell them you even want to see a bike park put in somewhere like, say… McLaren park for starters.
Do whatever you like, but having a constituency of mountain bikers present at this meeting will go a long ways towards furthering our agenda of creating a San Francisco parkscape that is more sustainable, more accessible, and flat out more fun.
Afterwards, come out to meet the newest, Bay-Area centric publishers, writers, and contributors to Momentum Magazine. Did I mention that they’ll be serving Oskar Blues beer? For what it’s worth, this SF Urban Rider thinks its the best canned beer on the planet. Details HERE.
