Maureen, ‘Mo” Devlin started riding her bike in the ‘burbs of Detroit for fun, for getting around, and never thought too much about it. Now she thinks about riding all the time: how to make riding bikes better for going to work, having fun, for getting stuff done. Though she considers herself a roadie, she is quite fond of her single speed mountain bike, as well as being a devoted (grass) bike polo player. She is excited to help the SF Urban Riders promote the off-road cycling opportunities that San Francisco has or could easily develop. She hopes to help create new or improved recreational opportunities, enabling people who probably already have bikes to feel comfortable and confident riding them in parks and roads alike.

Mo also serves on the Board of the San Francisco Bicycle Coalition and to fund her biking habit, is the Senior Accountant at the San Francisco County Transportation Authority. She is also within months of completing an Executive MBA at San Francisco State University. Her graduation present to herself will be a geared mountain bike.

Her focus now is improving organizations she works with. As an accountant and EMBA student, she brings years of business experience to SFUR’s board. Recently she wrote a new marketing plan for the Neighborhood Parks Council and collaborated with SFUR on their McLaren Park Proposal. This led to her eletion on SFUR’s board, where she is inspired by both the potential for SFUR to create and execute projects within San Francisco and the amazing potential for off-road cyclists to define themselves as a significant user group in San Francisco.

Tom loves bikes and anything else that rolls or slides. While cycling may occasionally take a back seat to skiing, skateboarding or hockey, cycling is his prime obsession.

Tom has raised 3 children in San Francisco and recognizes the need for space where our children can pursue physical activities away from the cars that make city life so dangerous. He would like to see trails throughout our parks to serve this need, offering walking and riding opportunities surrounded by a sense of wilderness.

To forward this end, Tom is working on trail building activities with V-O-Cal, IMBA and Mt. Sutro Stewards and has put his support behind SF Urban Riders.

After years of thinking that bicycles were nothing but children’s toys, Dayton was introduced to the bliss of riding a bicycle on singletrack, floating under a canopy of trees and flying along a smooth, brown sinuous trail rolling through the countryside. Ever since, he’s known no other dedication like his dedication to promoting the sport, recreation and lifestyle of mountain biking.

Dayton brings over five years of bicycle industry experience to SF Urban Riders. From repairs to sales, running advocacy programs to writing product copy and organizing events, Dayton has undertaken a variety of roles within the industry. Recently he observed that what really makes a ride wonderful isn’t as much the bicycle as it is the trail. That line that takes us from here to there in the most beautiful way possible. It is to promote the proliferation of trails and bicycle facilities that Dayton co-founded SF Urban Riders along with some of the talented folk listed above. Dayton is primarily responsible for the creation of web content on this page, so if you’ve got any great ideas, be sure to pass them along.

Mitch started working at the local bike shop when he was 14 years old. Bike riding was always fun, but after getting that job at the bike shop, Mitch’s life began to be shaped by the bike, working to feed his appetite for parts and to get to local bike races. This passion for all things bike eventually took Mitch to place top ten semi-pro XC ranking in the nation. While he still enters downhill races on occasion, his true passion has taken him away from the race circuit and back to the local trail advocacy front, co-founding SF Dirtlab and SF Urban Riders.

In a way, biking has also led Mitch to his current profession as a Project Manager/Geologist for Burns & McDonnell Engineering. After taking a geology class at Skyline College in San Bruno, with a professor that loved to show slides of local geologic phenomena, Mitch realized that riding mountain bikes had already taken him to most of the places in the professor’s slides. He thought, why not get paid to go to these great places, such as Lake Tahoe and Mammoth Mountain. Mitch earned a BS in Geology from San Francisco State University and recently passed the California State Professional Geology Exam to earn his PG License.

Through SF Dirtlab, Mitch works to promote mountain biking culture in SF by hosting mountain bike movie premier parties, sponsoring a Downhill Race team, raising awareness and money to bring a world class mountain bike skills park to San Francisco. SF Dirtlab is a key supporter of SF Urban Riders, donating the first $500 dollars to the bike park fund.
